intro sequence.jpgGriffith University has unveiled a new content platform designed to find, curate and share amazing knowledge from around the world. The catch is, it has to be done in sixty seconds.

Know More in Sixty Seconds, created and built by JuniorCru, is a website dedicated to those wonderful little things you didn’t know, but it’s not just the what, it’s the why.

home screen.jpgFor Griffith University marketing and communications director, Dean Gould, it’s the perfect platform for a university with over 180,000 students, staff and alumni.

Says Gould: “As a university we have access to a lot of amazing people and their knowledge. It started as a way to celebrate that knowledge and to hone in on those individual gems that get people talking.”

While the first fifty micro talks are from various Griffith graduates, current students, researchers and professors the site has already generated interest and topic suggestions from all around the world.

Says Gould: “Everyone has knowledge to share, and as long as it meets the high standards of rigour and accuracy we set, we’ll help them share it. The plan is to keep filming and adding micro talks as long as there is interest in them.”

Jonathan Drapes, creative director of JuniorCru: “The sixty second limit makes it a particularly interesting challenge for people wanting to contribute. It’s like the Twitter version of TED. The great thing about so much condensed cleverness all in one place, though, is you might go there to watch a talk about water but by the time you’ve finished you’re learning about childbirth.”

Matt Schofield.jpgThe site already features talks from world renowned ecologist Jean-Marc Hero, Olympic swimmer and science wunderkind Cameron McEvoy, director of The Simpsons, Matthew Schofield, and former head of Austrade in Japan, Greg Story, as well as such varied topics as how the shape of your beer glass affects how quickly you drink, how ceiling height affects your creativity and where water comes from.

Says Gould: “Griffith University is driven by the idea that when you know more, you can do more, so the idea of finding, curating and sharing knowledge is a perfect fit for us.”
