Fairfax Radio Network MD Adam Lang elected as the new chairman of Commercial Radio Australia

2b74f01.jpgA new board of directors has been appointed at today’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of industry body Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), held in Melbourne before the National Radio Conference.

Adam Lang, managing director of Fairfax Radio Network was elected as chairman of CRA, replacing outgoing chairman, Rhys Holleran, CEO of Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) who completed his second term from 2012 – 2013, having also been chairman from 2001 – 2004 and remains on the board.

Lang has been on the CRA Board since 2012. He was appointed managing director of Fairfax Radio Network in 2012, owners and operators of 2UE in Sydney, 3AW and Magic 1278 in Melbourne, 4BC and Magic 882 in Brisbane, 6PR & 96FM in Perth as well as digital radio NTS, Fairfax Radio Network Syndication and Satellite Music.  Before joining Fairfax Radio Network, Lang was national director of operations and general manager, Sydney at Austereo Pty Ltd and has a background in both the television industry with Network Ten and the music business with BMG, Warner Music and Festival Music.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, CRA chief executive officer, Joan Warner thanked outgoing chairman Holleran for his unwavering support and commitment to the industry body.

Says Lang: “I am very proud to accept the role of chairman of Commercial Radio Australia. Our Board members are an incredibly capable group, united and passionate about the strength and vibrancy of our industry.”

The re-elected CRA Board is:

Dr Grant Cameron, director of Grant Broadcasters Group, elected as vice-chairman regional.

Louise Higgins – COO, Nova Entertainment

Russell Tate – CEO, Macquarie Radio Network

Cathy O’Connor – CEO, DMG Radio

The AGM was conducted early this morning before proceedings began at the annual National Radio Conference being held at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne and attended by more than 600 radio industry members. Australia’s best-known radio stars and presenters will gather tomorrow night at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre for the 26th annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards.
