Shark.jpgLeading Sydney based production company, Rapid Films, has today announced an exciting new venture with the launch of Rapid VR, specialising in 360 degree immersive virtual reality video content.

Utilising custom made rigging and film techniques; Rapid VR works with clients to produce exhilarating content, providing viewers with the ultimate 360 degree experience allowing them to be completely engulfed into a scene.

Co-founder and director of Rapid VR, Dave Klaiber, says the sky is the limit with an increasing number of Australian businesses embracing virtual technology.

Says Klaiber: “Virtual reality is becoming more accessible and affordable with a range of different companies from different industries looking to create truly immersive content. Virtual reality has finally started moving into the mainstream.”

Rapid VR has already been using this technology to create content for some of the world’s biggest brands, most recently being commissioned by Samsung to film content for the launch of their new Gear VR, which runs on the Oculus rift software platform. The footage captures world-first 360 degree views whilst swimming with great white sharks in South Australia.

Says Taylor Steele, Rapid VR director: “It was an honour to be approached by Samsung who are global leaders when it comes to virtual reality. Their confidence in us to create content for their Gear VR launch, a portable version of the Oculus Rift, was a true testament to our team and our technology offering.”

The Rapid VR team has also created 360 VR content snowboarding down snow-capped mountains with Olympic Gold Medallist Torah Bright and live onstage at iconic Australian band Spiderbait’s concert.

The team has been working with top creative agencies in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia across the biggest brands for the past 10 years.

Says Klaiber: “What sets Rapid VR apart is that we have an experienced, nimble team who can turn content around quickly. Our camera, rigging and equipment is custom made to suit each project to ensure the content can be viewed not only on virtual reality headsets but also mobile devices, tablets and computers.”

Rapid VR has worked with several tourism boards, alcohol brands and experiential travel companies, and is currently in the development stage creating content for global brand GoPro.

VR is truly a game changer in the world of film. The Rapid VR team is among the first production companies in the world to be delivering genuine commercial experience and production values in this space.
