Tourism and major events minister Jann Stuckey said the It’s Live! Calendar featured 126 events, which were expected to generate a $380 million dollar economic boost for Queensland.

Says Stuckey: “This Government has worked hard to put together a sensational offering of sporting, arts, cultural and lifestyle events throughout the state from November 2014 through to October 2015. Families can now see it all in one place in this vibrant and exciting promotion.”

Stuckey said It’s Live! was a $3.8 million investment, the biggest events marketing campaign of its kind undertaken in Queensland.

Says Stuckey: “Events play a vital role in attracting visitors and supporting the state’s $23 billion tourism industry. This initiative builds on our election commitment to grow the industry and create jobs.

“While Labor had no plans for tourism, the Newman Government’s 20-year plan for tourism, Destination Success, outlines the need to support events to showcase our iconic visitor experiences, drive repeat visitation and grow regional tourism destinations.

“Events featured on the new Queensland calendar are estimated to generate $380 million in spending to Queensland and more than 1.7 million visitor nights.”

Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Leanne Coddington said It’s Live! brought together vibrant events staged in spectacular Queensland destinations.

Says Coddington: “Events bring destinations to life and It’s Live! will play a significant role in attracting visitors to Queensland.

“It’s Live! signals the next phase in TEQ’s strategy to deliver the world’s best destination-focussed events calendar that is a major commercial asset for Queensland and contributes to the industry’s target of growing visitor expenditure to 2020.

“We have a bold vision to increase the value of the calendar within the next decade.”

Coddington said the new events calendar profiled a selection of major and regional events across Queensland’s 13 diverse tourism destinations.

It’s Live! builds on Queensland’s core brand promise, ‘where Australia feels most alive’ and will showcase Queensland’s events calendar to Australians from this weekend across outdoor, TV, cinema, print, digital and social media activity.
