The unexpected campaign sees Volkswagen leverage another Spring milestone – the Koala mating season – to put the spotlight on a range of driveaway deals. To mark these occasions, Volksfest in 2014 is all about mate rates and will be on until two of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s cuddly koalas, Trevor and Irene, make a family or November 30 arrives – whichever comes first.

Says Ben Wilks, Volkswagen general manager, marketing: “Our retail offers are an important part of our business and this year we challenged DDB Sydney to get Australians talking about these offers in a new and engaging way.

“The Volksfest Mate Rates activity absolutely does this. We’re thrilled with the campaign and wish Trevor and Irene the best during their courtship – hopefully we’ll be able to welcome a new member to the Volkswagen family soon!”

Says Toby Talbot, chief creative officer, DDB Sydney: “It’s one of those fine moments when agency, client and wildlife come together perfectly to create a pretty unique retail approach.”

Led by a series of TVCs, Volksfest Mate Rates is supported through digital, radio and social.
