Decibel_Landscape_Promo_0001.jpgABC Splash has launched a new app game called ‘DJ Decibel’ via Hackett Films, to assist kids learn and develop math skills.

The DJ Decibel game concept was created by Sam Hackett early last year for ABC Splash, an online education portal. Sam wrote all the scripts while James Hackett and the team at Hackett Films designed, developed and built the game in-house at our studio. Built in the 3D game engine ‘Unity’, the format is matched to the Year 8 mathematics curriculum as a fun and interactive experience.

Decibel_Portrait_Promo_0001.jpgGuided by DJ Decibel, players are taken on a three-part narrative journey to set up the ‘Vector Arena’. Maths solutions are used to fix problems that arise with the aim of keeping the fans in the arena happy, which stops them from leaving and earns the player more points. There’s also the chance to DJ in the bonus game by spinning awesome tracks composed by Tactile Music’s Gary Sinclair.

Says James Hackett: “This is our second educational mobile game, so we’ve now fine tuned the process. It’s great to see our skills in character design, animation and narrative applied to this dynamic platform.”
