Copy School donates $4,250 to the Salvos

Copy School 1.jpgA donation of $4,250 has been made by Copy School, supported by The Newspaper Works, to the Oasis Youth Support Network, run by the Salvation Army.

The contribution came from the $250 fee each student paid to attend a week long series of lectures on best practice for writing advertising copy, conducted by Copy School.

Copy School 5.jpgA total 17 students attended the latest Copy School sessions, which were held over a week at The Newspaper Works earlier this month.

The guest tutors for this year’s Copy School are among the biggest creative and media agency names including:

    • Justin Drape – The Monkeys

    • Jonathan Kneebone – Glue Society

    • Mark Sharman – Sharms Consultancy

    • Grant Booker – Creative Consultant

    • Ben Welsh – M&C Saatchi

    • Ralph van Dijk – Eardrum

    • Craig “Moose” Moore – Creative Consultant

    • Ted Horton – Big Red

    • Rhett Watson – Daily Telegraph

 

Says Mark Hollands, CEO, The Newspaper Works: “It has been a pleasure to support creative and media agencies.

“Copy writing is a critical skill for advertising, and it was fantastic to see so many young people really enjoying the lectures.

“The Oasis Centre in Sydney plays an enormously valuable role in help city youth deal with homelessness. It is a great cause to support.”

“In the period of just one week I always see how quickly the young copywriters grow in confidence. Their talent is there, it just needs the opportunity and guidance to bring it out.”

Last month, The Newspaper Works announced a partnership with Copy School to encourage the best quality copywriting across all advertising media. The Newspaper Works now provides management and logistical support to the Copy School previously managed by AWARD.
