kikki.K brings a Swedish white Christmas to life in new campaign via Smart, Melbourne and Window

kikki.K Swedish White Christmas.jpgSmart Melbourne, in partnership with Window Productions, has launched ‘A Swedish Christmas in film’ for client kikki.K.

 

The Christmas Campaign TVC premiered on Sunday for the Swedish stationery, gift and homewares retailer, which has close to 80 stores across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, and an online store selling to customers in over 70 countries.

Inspired by kikki.K founder and creative director Kristina Karlsson’s childhood Christmases in Sweden, kikki.K’s Christmas campaign brings the idea of a Swedish White Christmas to life – and for the first time in the brand’s history, will be shared via a 60- and 30-second television commercial television.

 

Says Karlsson: “For me, a Swedish Christmas is all about the snow, the candlelight, the decorations, the food, family and friends and of course the beautiful memories all of these combine to create.

 

“I truly believe that we’ve managed to capture what beautiful Christmases were like for me growing up in Sweden – and I’m so excited to now be able to share this with our customers around the world – and to inspire them to reflect briefly on their own memories while considering kikki.K as a place where their beautiful Christmas begins.”

 

Says Janelle Toomey, Smart managing director: “Working with a global retailer, we felt strongly about the need to create a TVC that would demonstrate the birthplace of the brand and then translate easily into each of the current and emerging world markets for the brand. From the onset we knew that the only way to develop the commercial was in Swedish and then tailor for each market into the local language.”

Says Ben Davis, Smart executive creative director: “Opening the commercial with a  Swedish voice over in the Australian market and recording a century-old Swedish Christmas carol for the vocal track is a big step and I’m proud of the guys for going there with us.

 

“The end result is something that we hope is true to the memory that Kristina has of Christmas time in her homeland. That was the brief and according to the client, we’ve delivered.”
