The Brand Agency won Best of Show, 1 Gold, 3 Silver, 4 Bronze and 3 Best of Category for a total of 11 awards, although one of its Silvers was for the craft category of Direction and more properly belongs to Grant Sputore and The Penguin Empire.

Marketforce won 1 Gold, 2 Silvers, 11 Bronze and 1 Best of Category for a total of 15 awards.

Those two were well ahead of the next best performing agency, 303Lowe, with 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and 1 Best of Category.

PADCS_Agency_BLOG.jpgThe Brand Agency’s charge was led by St John Ambulance ‘Break The Barrier’ TVC, which picked up Gold and was named Best of Show – a clear winner according to Chairman of Judges, Ogilvy Melbourne ECD Brendon Guthrie. It was created by Craig Buchanan and David Donald and directed by Grant Sputore via The Penguin Empire.

Marketforce’s Gold was for its Rottofest ‘Burning Flag’ radio spot – a rare Gold for that medium. ‘Burning Flag’ was created by Guy Howlett and Neil Martin. The overall Rottofest campaign won Silver. However, it was the agency’s ‘Go Buoy‘ concept that won the Dave Upson Medal for Sound.

Go_Buoy_Edit1_BLOG.jpgAccording to Guthrie, ‘Go Buoy’ went within a whisker of being Marketforce’s second Gold of the night. In the end it won Silver (Best use of media, outdoor/ambient), 2 Bronzes (Outdoor Individual and Best Sponsorship or Partnership campaign) and Best of Category (Best Use of Sound) as well as the Upson Medal.

SHEDcsc won the other big prize of the night, the PADC The West Australian Fellowship for its ‘Crownie’ press ad for Liquor Barons. It’s the second year in a row SHED has won the Fellowship. The award carries a trip for two to the Cannes International Festival of Creativity.

A third Gold on the night was awarded to photographer Chantel Concei for her Aurelio Costarella 30 Year Retrospective campaign (see below).

In total, 51 awards were given: 3 Gold, 7 Silver, 28 Bronze and 13 Best of Category (12 Finalists were also nominated). This compares to last year’s tally of 34 awards – 6 Gold, 11 Silver, 16 Bronze and only 1 Best of Category.

In addition to Best of Show and Gold, The Brand Agency picked up 3 Silvers – St John Ambulance ‘The Crash Test’, St John Ambulance ‘Click to Save’ and St John Ambulance ‘Break the Barrier’.

Marketforce also scored 2 Silvers for The West Australian ‘Rottofest’ radio campaign and ‘Go Buoy‘ also for The West Australian.

303 Lowe and f22 Photography were the other Silver winners, 303Lowe for The Greens ‘Our Speech’ social media campaign and f22 for the photography in cookbook Sarogini’s Sri Lanka Food.

Of the 28 Bronzes handed out Marketforce won 11; The Brand Agency 4; Block Branding 3 and SHED and Meerkats won 2 each. 303Lowe, BrainCells, JWT Perth, Malcolm Maclean Creative, Minefield and Sandbox each were awarded single Bronzes.
