the_mule_01.jpgThe OTTO Empire will be celebrating the release of director Angus Sampson’s feature film ‘The Mule’ at Cinema Nova’s Q+A preview screening next Tuesday November 18th.

‘The Mule’ stars Sampson who also co-directed and co-wrote the piece. Based on true events set in 1980s Australia, the story follows a first-time drug mule who, before boarding a flight to Australia, consumes drugs wrapped in prophylactics and is subsequently arrested on arrival. Co-written by the talented Sampson, Leigh Whannell and Jamie Browne, the film boasts a spectacular cast including Hugo Weaving, Noni Hazlehurst, John Noble and Georgina Haig.

Since its premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin earlier this year, ‘The Mule’ has been receiving rave reviews across the globe, and was invited to enjoy a European debut at the BFI London Film Festival in October.

“Had the audience gasping with horror… funny and surprising” is just one positive review from the Huffington Post, with IGN’s official verdict being “A violently funny comedy and shockingly effective – and at times, gleefully nauseating – thriller. The Mule is an unexpected treat.”

Sampson will be joined by lead actor Weaving for special Q+A preview screenings of ‘The Mule’ in Melbourne on November 18th at Cinema Nova, and in Sydney on November 19th at Dendy Newtown.
