“I am honoured to be elected chair and look forward to an exciting period ahead as we embark on an ambitious strategy to increase membership and continue our work in building the profile of the marketing profession,” said Woolley (left) on the announcement of his appointment by the institute’s Board of Directors.

“I look forward to working with fellow Board members and Lee Tonitto, CEO.  There are huge challenges ahead to be overcome, but with the talent of the Board and a capable management team there is a new capacity to achieve our new goals.

“The Board would like to thank Graham for his continuing contribution and service to the AMI as a Board Member and previously as a State Councillor.  We particularly acknowledge his hard work in implementing the new governance model.”

Wright congratulated Woolley and said, “The election of Darren as new Chair is the final piece in the Governance changes which brought in member elected Board members.  The intention was to inject new ideas and fresh perspectives to the AMI driven by member elected directors.  Darren is the first member-elected Director to be elected Chair by the Board and leads a well-balanced team keen to deliver on this promise of an exciting future.  I look forward to continuing to contribute to the Board, providing continuity and support.”

Woolley was directly elected to the Board by members in September 2014. With his background as analytical scientist and creative problem solver, Woolley brings unique insights and learnings to the AMI Board.  He is a regular industry commentator to trade and industry magazine and forums around the world.

Following an earlier life as a scientist at Royal Children’s Hospital Neuropathology Laboratory in Melbourne, Woolley developed brand and business communication strategies for a broad range of global and local brands over 15 years as a writer and creative director. He was CD at JWT, Melbourne and president of the Melbourne Art Directors’ Club for two consecutive terms.

In 2000, Woolley founded TrinityP3, Asia Pacific’s leading strategic marketing management consultancy with an international network of more than 30 industry professionals helping people to achieve commercial purpose through creative process.
