Carl Wyant.jpgGlobal production company Great Guns has appointed Carl Wyant as executive producer covering Asia Pacific.

As a producer of broadcast commercials, Wyant has worked with a long list of directors, including the legendary Joe Pytka, Gore Verbinski and Tarsem.

His work as a producer internationally has covered a broad range of production challenges, with many incorporating post-intensive visual effects, including a number of 2D and 3D animation spots for broadcast and cinema release. In addition to web-based interactive and new media content projects, he’s produced several multi-camera live shows, and concert tour films.

Based in Los Angeles until 2004, he relocated to Sydney where he worked at boutique visual effects post house Postmodern as their Executive Producer, a similar role at post shop The Lab, and as a content producer at animation and vfx company Animal Logic.

He returned in early 2007 to the production side of the industry as the Executive Producer at Kelleher with Sydney-based director Lance Kelleher, working in collaboration with 8 Commercials and Curious Film, before freelancing again with various international companies, including the Sydney and Auckland based production house Prodigy and design, visual effects, and production shop Collider.

With a strong interest in the emerging Asian markets, he relocated again in 2013 to Vietnam to become the Executive Producer at Sudest Productions in Ho Chi Minh City. Working in collaboration with their existing team, he introduced a broad spectrum of international directors from his previous relationships to commercial and media content projects in the Vietnamese market, while marketing and developing the business for its growing future in the Asia Pacific region.

Wyant ‘s extensive production career stretches across documentaries, music videos and broadcast commercials in the US and Europe, as well as Asia, which makes him the perfect person to represent Great Guns for Asia Pacific.

Sheridan Thomas, Great Guns Global Executive Producer said, “Carl couples his distinguished production experience with his incisive appraisal of our constantly changing industry and its enormous potential to us as digital and film content providers. It was immediately apparent that his outlook aligned closely with our own, making him the ideal fit for Great Guns’ future.”

Laura Gregory, Global CEO and Founder commented, “Carl is a natural partner for Great Guns in Asia Pacific. His production and post-production skills are defined by his days as producer for iconic directors like Joe Pytka and Verbinski, as well as work with on the vfx side with Animal Logic, Postmodern and others. This gives him an inexhaustible expertise we can tap into. Carl is well known to the Great Guns LA office where he worked with Great Guns USA partner, Jonathon Ker, in the USA for many years, starting at Limelight, then following Jonathon to Palomar.  Global synergy is proving to be one of the most important assets at Great Guns and Carl’s production skills and understanding of production across the Asia Pacific region adds value to our brand. Carl’s history with key personnel at Great Guns shortcuts the ‘honeymoon’ period so he can hit the ground running”.

Gregory continues, “Our upcoming and recent projects like Jonty Toosey’s Cathay Pacific #lifewelltravelled campaign will give him a lot to talk about.”

On his new role Wyant commented, “I’m excited to be representing such a well-established global brand, one with an extremely talented roster of directors and experienced producers.”

“Having spent the majority of my career based in the US and Europe, nearly a decade producing in Australia and New Zealand, and this past year at the helm of a respected company in SE Asia, I feel as if I can bring a unique perspective to an industry that is experiencing tremendous change in this part of the world.”

“I was immediately attracted to what the Great Guns roster of top talent has to offer across a wide variety of platforms. From award winning international broadcast campaigns to web and interactive content, an associate digital division and a dedicated team of game developers, feature filmmakers and episodic television directors, top end specialists in beauty and lifestyle, as well as emerging young image-makers and storytellers, Great Guns is built on a culture of collaboration, not only with clients and agency partners, but also within the team itself.”

“Most importantly for me is the fact that I’m joining a group of people who have real passion for what they do in creating compelling content.”
