Media Owners v Media Agencies line up for the ‘Big Clash’ 20/20 charity cricket match for UN LTD
Cricket World Cup fever is sweeping the industry and it’s all in the name of undoing youth disadvantage.
Presented by Fairfax Media, the “Big Clash” will see rival media agencies unite for the day against a combined team of competing media owners, in a special 20/20 charity cricket match for industry foundation UN LTD.
While they’re usually going in to bat against each other over clients and campaigns – the teams will put the media game aside when they take the field at Sydney Uni Oval on Tuesday 3 March.
Coming together to wear the “Agency All Stars” strip will be a team of the Sydney market’s most agile batsmen and bowlers. Representing the agency side of the industry will be players from: Bohemia, Aegis, Starcom, Group M, Vizeum, The Media Store, OMD, PHD, Foundation, Havas and Ikon.
On the media owner side forming the “Publisher Legends” team, media owners will combine forces with sales personalities from; Fairfax Media and Fairfax Media Radio, JCDecaux, Seven Network, Nine Entertainment Co., News, MCN, oOh!, ARN, Inception and The Guardian taking part.

Captaining the media owner team, Fairfax Media’s Chris Freel said: “It’s not often that we media owners get to join forces and take on the collective might of the agency world. This match is going to be a clash of the titans and a brilliant spectacle.
“With the cricket world cup in town this year what better excuse than to get together for a friendly (yet competitive) match to raise funds for UN LTD, and help support their incredible charity partners in tackling youth disadvantage. It’s so fantastic that we can join together to raise money that will make a difference whilst at the same giving the agency guys a good thrashing!” said Chris.
Says Agency All Stars Captain Brett Dawson: “This will be a great opportunity for usually fierce agency competitors to come together as one, to raise some money for a great cause, have some fun and of course try and roll the media owners – if not with our cricket skills, then with sledging wit”.
Adds Carol Morris, UN LTD GM: “Our foundation exists to realise the enormous potential of our industry when we come together behind a common cause. The Big Clash will see agencies and publishers unite for a fantastic event that demonstrates the media sector collaborating to make a positive contribution to undoing the unacceptable issue of youth disadvantage”.
The event kicks off at 4pm although doors open from 3pm. There will be food and drinks laid on by sponsors and a $10 admission cost, all of which will be donated directly to UNLTD.
