DSC_0911p.jpgThe Adelaide Advertising and Design Club (AADC) in conjunction with The Communications Council (TCC) last week played host to award-winning Sydney advertising heavyweights The Monkeys in Adelaide.

The night entitled “It’s more than Monkey business” saw The Monkeys’ Justin Drape (left) and Fabio Buresti (right) mingle with Adelaide creatives to discuss the importance of going beyond the brief and how to bridge the gap between what a client wants compared to what they actually need.

AADC co-president Josh Welbourn said the AADC and TCC are the peak bodies representing agencies in the State’s communications industry and are working diligently to raise the standards of creative excellence throughout South Australia.

Says Welbourn: “We hope that bringing The Monkeys to Adelaide, will be the first off many successful events developed in cooperation with the TCC.

“The Monkeys are one of Australia’s most recognised and internationally awarded agencies and it’s exciting to bring them to Adelaide to share ideas with our members.

“There’s a big bright world out there and members had the rare opportunity to chew the fat with two nationally acclaimed creatives who are making waves, pushing the limits of creativity and winning awards for doing so  – opportunities to meet talent of this nature just doesn’t happen every day.”

TCC education and member services manager SA Michelle Wye said events such as this help to motivate new creative thinking.

Says Wye: “Bringing such a successful, award winning, independent agency to share their experiences and insights provides our local community with fantastic inspiration.

“The world of advertising is ever developing and the way communications ‘speak’ to their audience has changed – we all need to adjust.”
