The deal positions both client and agency as business partners, where autonomy for marketing and advertising decisions is granted to the agency, and remuneration has a significant performance based component.

Says Steven Muller, marketing partner at Bondi Advertising: “Jonas [Allen, creative director] and I both have client backgrounds, and Bondi Advertising is about delivering client outcomes, not agency awards, so skininthegame motivates us. The outsourcing approach appeals to entrepreneurs and business owners, and our Velosure partnership is a great example of this.”

Velosure Insurance began in Australia six years ago when cycling enthusiasts Theo and Aryna Grobler saw an opportunity for a better insurance product to support the needs of the booming cycling community. Velosure is now Australia’s leading bike insurer. They provide the insurance for all Cycling Australia members, sponsor premier cycling teams internationally and are expanding globally.

Says Theo Grobler: “We have built Velosure from a standing start and remain independent, and customer focused, but we need to go to that next level. The commitment and creativity demonstrated by Bondi Advertising has simply blown us away. We are incredibly excited about what this partnership will bring to Velosure in Australia and abroad.”

The agreement will see Bondi Advertising take responsibility for all facets of the brand marketing management. Following a comprehensive retail audit, Bondi Advertising have already launched an instore campaign that has seen new distribution in over 100 cycling retailers. A brand digital overhaul is underway, and a new social enterprise program, designed to improve the relationship between cyclists, motorists and pedestrians, is in the works.
