Created by Adelaide-based production company Cul-de-sac, the campaign features a candid Humphries “putting his own spin” on cabaret in a series of 15-second ads.

Renato Capoccia, Adelaide Festival Centre marketing executive says the campaign shows why Humphries’ new role as the festival’s artistic director is a refreshing development for this much loved South Australian Festival.

Says Capoccia: “Think about it, you have one of Australia’s quirkiest, and sometimes controversial, comedians saying that he wants to break the rules of cabaret… what more could you want.

“Suddenly we can throw the old perceptions of cabaret to the curb…this is cabaret for everyone.”

Cul-de-sac principal Marco Cicchianni says the ads, which were specifically created for both TV and digital platforms, were driven by Humphries’ comedic genius.

Says Cicchianni: “When you are collaborating with someone as creative and funny as Barry, you just have to let them drive a lot of the creative process.

“The effortless wit and charisma you see in these ads…that’s Barry being Barry.”
