Hornung joins OMD from his role as strategic lead at Mindshare. With over 10 years’ experience in the industry, Hornung has led the strategic product for a number of clients in Australia, including NAB, GE, Carlton & United Brewery and Danone. Hornung brings with him a deep understanding of consumers and retail, having previously worked 5 years client side across marketing and insights at organisations such as Coles.

This appointment serves as a further reinforcement of OMD’s elevated strategic offering, as seen with the recent hire of Mat Rawnsley from The Monkeys and Dan Bye from M&C Saatchi.

Says Gavin Gibson, OMD national head of strategy: “It’s with great pleasure that we welcome Gideon back into the strategy team, who will play a pivotal role in pushing our product forward both internally and with McDonald’s.”

Says Hornung: “I’m thrilled to be part of the OMD team, their scale and diversity of specialist services puts us in a strong place to help McDonald’s connect with their customers and really drive the business forward.”

Gideon will report to Gavin Gibson, effective immediately.
