30below Victoria personal branding event.jpgWith today’s workplace being fiercer than ever and hundreds of applications hitting recruiters’ desks and inboxes for a single job, many budding marketers and advertisers are struggling to get noticed, let alone get their foot in the door.

As a result, ADMA’s 30Below committee in Victoria has decided to host its first-ever ‘Personal branding: strategies to stand out’ pizza evening for young marketers, advertisers and creatives on 21 May 2015 from 6.00pm to 8.30pm at Campari House, 23-25 Hardware Lane, Melbourne CBD.

Says Mike Chuter, managing director, Publicis CUBED, ADMA board member and a mentor ADMA 30Below Victoria: “Despite us all working in an industry that has a talent shortage, it’s hard for young people to get a foothold in our industry in Melbourne.

“So, we’ve called upon some experts in the industry to help our community learn how to build and protect their brand image. These experts were once in the same position and over the years they’ve developed and honed their personal brands. Their tips and tricks might just help a few more future stars to land their first, second or third job or perhaps even nail that promotion.”

The speakers are Chris Karagounis, managing partner, Alex Kaar; Stanley Johnson, creative director, MYOB, and Trevor Young, founder, Authority Partners.

The speakers will talk about their own experiences trying to get jobs, how to project a brand image physically, and how to navigate through the often hazardous world of social media whilst still letting one’s natural self shine through.

With 17 years in the executive recruitment industry, Karagounis is no stranger to reading a person’s professional brand upon meeting them for the first time. He’s worked throughout the Asia-Pacific region in a broad range of services from digital to financial services, utilities to FCMG. He will share insights into how young marketers can sell themselves without speaking and ensuring they project a positive image.

In a 20+ year career, Johnson has held creative director roles in London and Melbourne. He’s a former member of the ADMA Agency Council and was instrumental in the launch of ADMA’s Mentor Scheme. He also helped to establish the ADMA Creative School in Melbourne last year as well as Junior, a resource for aspiring young creative people. His work has been recognised in Cannes, London and Australia.

Young specialises in social media, content marketing and personal branding. He helps companies and individuals build visibility, influence and trust thorough the development and execution of thought leadership marketing programs. Experienced in pushing out messages that are ‘on brand’,Young  is a member of the Business Victoria Content Development Advisory Group. He’ll give tips and tools on how to maximise exposure online, talk about why young marketers should post from events they attend, and explain how to build a digital brand aligned to one’s career.

Tickets are just $25 which includes pizza and drinks.
