After three years Big W set to change direction with move from Saatchi’s to Leo Burnett Sydney
After three years with Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney, Leo Burnett Sydney has become the agency of record for Big W, one of Australia’s largest retailers.
The appointment marks a change in direction for the retailer, with Leo Burnett tasked with re-positioning the Big W brand in the fast-changing retail landscape.
Says Pete Bosilkovski (left), managing director, Leo Burnett Sydney: “This is a tremendous opportunity to work with an iconic Australian retailer that is currently in the process of transformation.
“As an agency, we thrive on ‘change’ as a brief. This appointment is a huge step in connecting Big W with customers in new ways – giving the brand new meaning, and people new reasons to put Big W first.”
Says Ali Jones (right), marketing director, Big W: “We are excited to be working with the heavily awarded agency, Leo Burnett. It has proven itself to be both a creative and strategic powerhouse.
“It is an important time for Big W as we change our business to bring an exciting and best priced offer to our customers. This partnership will be important in helping us realise our strategy for a new Big W.”

cheap cheap clothes and things
wow, DiLallo got out in the knick of time.
Why would Big W be ‘excited about working with a heavily awarded agency’?
… or do they look related?
Big W is a great account. Saatchi had it, now Leos does. Thursdays are always quiet news days.
It’s uncanny.
It’s clearly consolidation to get more out of one agency. Nothing to do with merit or failure on either side.
Combo deal. Surf ‘n turf. Cheap cheap.
Saatchis deserved to lose the account more than Burnetts deserved to win it. Hopefully the latter won’t try and hoodwink its client.
Funny for so many reasons
Hands up who wants to work at Leo’s.
Anyone? Anyone?
