4RM (1).jpgSydney based ZSPACE has developed a world first point-of-sale augmented reality application for Ferrari dealers throughout Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Called the Ferrari AR Showroom App, the bespoke augmented reality application is a powerful customer engagement and sales tool and will be rolled out in Ferrari dealerships throughout Australasia in a world first.

Configurator_3_wide (1).jpgSays Sam Hall, executive producer, ZSPACE: “Ferrari Australasia approached us to create

an App that pushed the boundaries of current technology to develop a unique and world

first interactive user experience. For Ferrari Australasia, customer engagement and information delivery were paramount in order to strengthen the showroom experience.

“The Ferrari AR Showroom App is designed to bring customers into the showroom and in doing so interact with the car and create a unique engagement with the brand.”

The Ferrari AR Showroom App enables users to tap into the mythology of Ferrari, with its extreme performance cars and advanced automotive technology. By guiding customers through a seven-step car walk-around, the app allows customers to see under the skin and into the mechanics of the super cars. Within the walk around are video, text and image activations showcasing the tailored car aerodynamics, unique braking system, engine features and powertrain, aluminum chassis and car customisation. A customer can configure the Ferrari to their exact specifications and superimpose these onto the showroom car. Currently showcasing five models, the Ferrari AR Showroom App has the ability to add models and update content in real time.

ZSPACE is at the forefront of using marker-less tracking software for augmented reality. The edge based tracking system allows the user to track onto the outline of the car, thereby activating interactive and engaging experiences. It has been specifically designed to be shared; users can record the customisation and vehicle configuration from the showroom floor and email the video to friends and family. The App also has the potential to include live analytics and collect data around point of sale for the dealers.

Says Tim Jardine, executive producer, ZSPACE: “ZSPACE has invested heavily in this project and the result speaks for itself, the platform we have developed is a unique selling tool with a huge range of applications. While augmented reality has been around for some time, this is a world first development of edge based tracking and activations within the platform and the result is a very powerful sales tool for Ferrari Australasia dealers.”

ZSPACE utilised its design and animation expertise to create an app with superior 3D animation, high end visual effects, broadcast quality video and beautiful design. Its in-house developers spent twelve months refining the technology and each of the five Ferrari models were painstakingly reconstructed through thousands of images and hundreds of hours of video. The team refined each user engagement for look, design, authenticity and tracking. The result is a dynamic platform that showcases every detail and specific about each model and allows for an in-depth, individual and meaningful interaction with dealers in a showroom setting.

The Ferrari AR Showroom App will be rolled out by Ferrari dealers throughout Australia, New Zealand and Japan in the coming months.
