Macleay College’s ‘AdSpeaks’ series returns; The Hallway’s Simon Lee to launch mid-year series

AdSpeaks T2_2015 (1).jpgPremier industry-focused education provider Macleay College has today announced the impressive line-up of advertising professionals set to lead the next instalment of AdSpeaks.

As experts in their specialised fields, each of the speakers will provide an in-depth discussion on topics relevant to today’s industry landscape, including the evolving sensibility of advertising, the emerging role of the media in the advertising space, and the rise of User Experience (UX) design.

The mid-year AdSpeaks programme will run as follows:

Monday, June 22, 10:00 am: Simon Lee, executive creative director at The Hallway, will present ‘Taking Siddartha’s Lead – finding an enlightened path through AdLand’. As the architect and leader of The Hallway’s creative offering, Lee will fuse his direct and mainstream experience with his passion for storytelling.

Monday, July 13, 10:00 am: Sam Turley and Adam Ross, co-creation leads at MINDSHARE will be discussing ‘The uncomfortable truth about media in an attention economy’. Turley and Ross will be focussing on the 10 per cent of the 70:20:10 innovation model and calling upon over 20 years of combined experience in Strategic Planning to discuss what drives clients to explore future areas for growth by embracing the uncomfortable.

Monday, July 20, 10:30 am: Sam Court, UX director at The White Agency, will present ‘The rise of UX and what this holds for the future’. Court will be taking a particular focus on “designing for invisible interactions”. Working with several of Australia and London’s finest digital agencies over the last 14 years, digital innovation has always been close to Court’s heart.

Head of advertising at Macleay, Ian Thomson, said that AdSpeaks is the ideal opportunity for Macleay students and industry experts to come together and explore the new frontiers of the advertising landscape.

Says Thomson: “AdSpeaks gives students a realistic and eye-opening look into today’s advertising industry, equipping them with pragmatic words of advice and offering some top hints for making their mark in the field.

“What we have learnt from the previous series’ is that it really works – for both industry and student – who come away from the discussions encouraged, inspired, and most importantly in today’s ever-shifting advertising landscape – challenged.”

Previous AdSpeaks speakers include co-founder of For The People, Andy Wright, head of technology at The Hallway, Brad Bennett, business director at Leo Burnett Sydney, Neil Duncan, M&C Saatchi group innovation director, Ben Cooper, SBS group marketing director, Katherine Raskob and Zenith Optimedia CIO, Aaron Michie.
