Having created the sound design, produced the original score and provided music supervision services for the film, Nylon also have a stake in the film as producers. This is a first for the sound and music house and came about via a longstanding relationship with Sims.

Says Simon Lister, Nylon: “It was a great experience working with Jeremy. We often work with Jeremy as an actor, so it was a pleasure to see him take on the role of director in a project that obviously means so much to him.”

Starring Michael Caton and Jacki Weaver, the film follows the story of a terminally ill cab driver from Broken Hill taking the cross-country drive to Darwin seeking to participate in a recently legalised euthanasia procedure.

Adapted by Sims from an original screenplay by Reg Cribbs, the film also features a unique score composed by Ed Kuepper from seminal Australian punk-rock band, The Saints.

Says Mark Beckhaus, producer of the film’s score and music director at Nylon “We became involved after seeing how great the script was, how great the cast was and at the prospect of working with Ed who is an icon of Australian music.”

After its Sydney Film Festival debut last week, the film has garnered universally positive reviews from all the major film press.

Last Cab to Darwin is scheduled for release on the 6th of August, is distributed by Icon and will be in 200 cinemas across the country.
