Screen Shot 2015-08-19 at 12.25.57 pm.jpgSydney’s Strand Arcade continues to build upon its long-standing reputation as the home of prestigious design talent and bespoke artisans, with its Spring/Summer 2015 edition of 1891 via Studio Woo which celebrates the intriguing concept of duality.

Challenging and reinterpreting the worlds of fashion, food and music through the creative power of two, Volume 5 of 1891 explores the pairing of complimentary sets of skills and the fusion of artistic minds.

Shot_7_295 (1).jpgAward winning musical duo Say Lou Lou, twin sisters Miranda and Elektra Kilbey, bring this concept of duality to life as curators of the new issue.  Claiming the notion of two voices as one to be the main philosophy behind their music, it is clear there is no greater fit with the season’s concept.

The sisters, who hail from Australia, have supercharged voices and an independent sense of style, with their music garnering great accolades internationally. Poised for even greater heights, the pair fittingly take on the dual role of 1891 cover stars and curators, and highlight exciting couples that have teamed together to create beautiful outcomes throughout the issue.

Strand Arcade counts a number of creative duos amongst its retailers, with fascinatingly diverse results arising from the Shot_16_046 (1).jpgtalented pairings.  From Dinosaur Designs’ Stephen Ormondy and Louise Olsen whose stunning works in resin marry form and function perfectly; to the effortlessly luxurious cashmere pieces of Jac+ Jack’s Lisa Dempsey and Jacqueline Hunt; creative identities are often forged and defined by two equal parts.

The 1891 issue itself is divided into two distinct sections, AM and PM.  Night and day is addressed through two stunning shoots, both featuring the Say Lou Lou girls.  Delicately feminine looks from Strand Arcade designers such as LOVER and LIFEwithBIRD shine for day, whilst the after dark shoot sees intricately embellished evening dresses from the collections of Alex Perry, GALANNI and Amy Taylor coming to the fore.

The Strand Arcade is a community of treasured partnerships and Volume 5 of 1891 pays a harmonious tribute to the coming together of these creative minds.  The idea that great things come in pairs has never been more apt.
