Young marketers to quiz Melbourne’s big shots at ADMA 30Below event on Aug 27, Campari House

buzz 472 x 394 (1).jpgThe ADMA 30Below community in Victoria is bringing back its popular Buzz in the Boardroom event to give young marketers and creatives the chance to ask some of the big names in the local industry the bigger questions about their careers.

The event will take place at 6:00pm – 8:30pm on Thursday, August 27 at Campari House, 23-25 Hardware Lane, Melbourne. Tickets are $25 which includes drinks and pizza.

They’ve arranged for some of Melbourne’s top senior marketers and advertisers to answer burning career-related questions like how they got their first big break, what kept them motivated in their 20s, how to manage awkward office politics and their tips for shining in the field.

Says Jodie Sangster, CEO, ADMA: “Buzz in the Boardroom is about bringing some of the country’s most highly regarded senior marketers and creatives to meet those coming up the ladder and answer their career-related questions. It’s also a chance for 30Below members to network informally with those at the top of their game today.”

Speakers for the evening are:

•    David Ponce de Leon, creative director, McCann. Ponce de Leon has worked with some of the biggest and most creative agencies in Australia including McCann, George Patterson, Lifelounge and BD Network. He’s been awarded more than a hundred times for his work for brands like adidas, Heinz, Mars, Schweppes and the Victorian Government. He is also head of ADMA Creative School in Melbourne.

•    Mark Brownfield, general manager marketing and retail sales, AGL Energy. With nearly a decade of experience within the energy sector, Brownfield leads the strategic development of AGL’s brand, product and sales distribution. He has held B2B and B2C general manager roles and is the current director and deputy chair of the Energy Retailers Association of Australia.

•    Simon Strahan, marketing director, DrinkWise. Strahan focuses on promoting a healthy and safe drinking culture through his work at DrinkWise, a not-for-profit organisation established by the industry. He has worked across several industries and has a strong record in managing marketing campaigns/strategy development for brands like theTAC, Cotton On, Australia Post and the Australian Wheat Board.

•    Darren O’Brien, president of cheese and grocery for Asia Pacific, Mondelez. With over 20 years’ experience in senior management roles spanning sales, marketing and general management in leading FMCG companies, O’Brien is a veteran of the boardroom. He currently manages iconic brands such as Vegemite, Kraft Peanut Butter and Philadelphia Cream Cheese and is responsible for a billion dollar portfolio of leading cheese and grocery brands across the Asia-Pacific region.
