RoughCast was created by director, Chris Mayer-Plummer, with a vision to represent the human body in all its glorious forms.

Says Mayer-Plummer: “RoughCast is a new breed of modelling and acting agency. There’s no prejudice at RoughCast. We represent people in all shapes and forms, in all colours and sizes.

“Our talent have an edge. They come from all walks of life, and they may not necessarily be professional actors or models. But we know what works on camera and we are good at finding people.”

Originally an actor himself, Mayer-Plummer has worked in the Australian film and television industry for over thirty years, also heading up Australian Film Locations.

I think the industry is ripe for an injection of colour and life, and so I decided to take the plunge and create RoughCast as an agency to represent the diversity of humans that make up our community.

“We’re very proud of what we are doing, and we hope that the Australian industry will respond well to it. But the proof will be in the pudding. Hopefully you’ll start seeing a greater diversity of people in Australian media and advertising, and if that changes, even just a little bit, then we’ll know we’ve done our job.”
