CW2A8399 (1).jpgFor the autumn launch of the 2015 Nike Tech Pack sportswear range, Nike Australia has partnered with freelance creative / film maker Chris Phillips to deliver a digital campaign for Australia / NZ.

The campaign centres around the everyday lifestyle of athletes and the importance of unwinding from the intensity of professional sport, albeit in their own unique way. Stories include AFL footballer Nic Naitanui introducing his ‘man-cave’, NRL Rugby player Michael Jennings discussing the influence of family, Australian Hockeyroo star Anna Flanagan and her love of skateboarding, and master trainer Kirsty Godso’s busy active lifestyle in Auckland.

Says Phillips: “It was exciting to partner with Nike Australia, it comes with a responsibility to reach for the high production standards we see from the brand globally. For us that meant keeping the crew small to maximize the budget; just myself, the DOP and the photographer. This kept us nimble and adaptable, but was also crucial in getting authentic interactions with the athletes, who had kindly opened up their personal lives to the camera. I’m indebted to the crew of cinematographer Shelley Farthing-Dawe and photographer Ty Johnson in Australia, and Joel Betts / Matt Crawford in NZ. Being a small crew everyone had to take on a lot and I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Keeping to the efficient production approach Phillips went from producer / director to editor / colour grader, and the music for the final launch piece was provided by Australian outfit Hermitude.
