Ben.jpgMADC is launching its next event in its MADC Presents series with Clemenger BBDO Melbourne interactive creative director Ben Keenan on Wedensday, October 28, 6:30pm at The Local Taphouse in St Kilda.

It’s been the year of the ad-blocker, it turns out people don’t like being sold to. So what’s next?

Is advertising about to enter a creative renaissance? Or are we just going to build more sneaky algorithms?

Truth is, people are going to doing both. But which approach is going to be more worthwhile?

Keenan is interactive creative director at Clemenger, he makes things out of the Internet for a living.

He’d like to have a frank chat about how ideas work on the Internet, what the good and bad ones are made of.

He’ll also share a few practical tips about what to do when your client asks for one of those ideas that people actually want to share with each other.

Says Tony Prysten, MADC secretary and digital director at McCann: “These events are becoming hugely popular and sell out very quickly. The variety of speakers, from Adrain Mills and Russel Howcroft to Nick Cummins and Paul Reardon, the pub environment and the abundance of beer make it a great industry night.”

More on Ben Keenan

Keenan spent the first eight years of his career as a web designer and developer. He finished at the top of his class at Melbourne Award School in 2004 and made the odd decision to go from new media to old, accepting  ajob at Grey Melbourne as a copywriter.

In his eleven years in advertising, Keenan has led the digital creative offering of M&C Saatchi Melbourne as digital creative director before joining Clemenger Melbourne in 2010.

Keenan’s work has been recognised over 70+ times at major local and international Awards shows in categories spanning tv and radio to viral, content marketing, social media, technical innovation and beyond. He’s also been selected by peers to judge the New York Festivals and Award awards.

A passionate teacher, Keenan served as the head of Award School in 2013 and 2014 and continues to be a regular speaker and lecturer on ideas and emerging technology.

He also built a best selling app that helps parents take better pictures of their children, but that’s a whole other story.
