NY raised Chris Sferrazza joins The Producers
The Producers has added NY born and raised director/DOP Chris Sferrazza to its stable of directors.
Sferrazza’s approach to comedy is simple: “When people laugh, they drop their defences. What better time to approach them with a new idea then when they’re open to it.”
His comedy skills were honed whilst bartending in a NY comedy club and had to occasionally MC the open mic nights.
Says Sferrazza: “It was sometimes great fun, other times it was crap. I was booed and abused, but it gave me thick skin and in the end I learnt how to charm folks as much as making them laugh. Saved my neck a few times. Timing is everything as they say.”
Besides comedy, Sferrazza has a fascination with people, again courtesy of his NY upbringing.
Says Sferrazza: “The 1980’s were not exactly the golden age for NYC. It was dangerous, dirty and falling apart, but the city had character … lots and lots of character. You could ride the subway and have a janitor on your left and a banker on your right. I loved seeing the contrast. And there were crazies everywhere. It was a filmmakers dream.”

Great director, awesome bloke too. Onya mate.
Great news! But Australia is the only place where ‘being from New York’ is an achievement.
@Sigh: LOL! What I thought too. Only a Brisbane company/country town people, would think that.
No prizes for guessing what city Sigh and My Thoughts are from. Get over yourselves.
@Sick of Smug Muppets: So what city are we from?
