Having been comfortable behind the camera since he was only nine, Blakeway spent his youth surfing in Australia and skating in California, and since launching into the commercial film world at only 19, the now 26-year-old director has developed a unique style and garnered incredible success.

In the past year, Blakeway has been nominated for a Kinsale Shark for his short film ‘From the Same’ and has racked up over half a dozen Vimeo staff picks. Blakeway has directed shorts and commercials for brands including, Corona, Nike, Red Bull, Quicksilver, Wrangler, Monster Children & Skull Candy.

Blakeway’s unique style stems from an immersion in authentic stories, a penchant for filming in natural light, and evocative sound and image combinations. He has been recognised in several publications for his beautiful cinematography and captivating soundscapes.

Working with Robber’s Dog I’ll be developing this style for broader commercial work and storytelling through a more constructed narrative.”

Says George Mackenzie, managing director at Robber’s Dog: “We’re thrilled to have Riley on board. He’s the next generation of film-maker; a content superstar who makes films that people really love, whether they’re shorts or commercials.  He’s got boundless potential that we can’t wait to explore.”

Blakeway’s most recent project, ‘Nothing Baby’ a music video for shoegaze LA band ‘Froth’, premiered on NPR.org Friday 24th September.
