cummins-irwin.jpgAustralia’s fast-growing global independent ad agency cummins & partners – which opened in New York in 2014 – has acquired Brooklyn-based creative agency dc3.

dc3, which has produced work for Verizon, Nikon, Coca-Cola, Remy Martin, Lacoste, Mountain Dew, Monique Lhuillier, and Lord and Taylor, was founded by creative Todd Irwin, who has been named as partner and chief creative officer, joining Cummins and chief strategist Arwa Mahdawi on the agency’s partnership team.

Says Cummins: “I have been looking at a number of agencies over the last six months, and it wasn’t just the businesses that mattered, it was the quality of the people. In Todd we have found an outstanding creative talent and a great businessman. That is the killer combination.”

“New York is an idiosyncratic market and we came in here cold. And purposely so. You can’t impose your style on the market and hope it will respond. You have to learn the rhythms. We have a great culture and philosophy that comes from our Australian roots…but you need a New York savvy. Todd has already shown us how the two will blend perfectly.”

cummins & partners, which was founded in Australia in 2011, opened in New York in May 2014, followed by a Toronto office in April 2015.
