The Give Me 5 for Kids appeal launched in the mid 90s as a simple coin drive. Since then, the appeal has raised more than $17 million nationally, utilising the Southern Cross Austereo local radio and TV stations to promote the appeal. The appeal is rolled out in June of each year, and raises money to support over 40 local children’s hospital wards and children’s charities from Darwin to Hobart, Gosford to Bunbury.

Southern Cross Austereo’s, head of regional Media Rick Lenarcic: “Over the past 21 years, Give Me 5 for Kids has given regional kids the chance to stay close to home and family whilst receiving treatment at local hospitals, through the purchase of equipment and provision of services from our local hospitals’ wishlists.

“Special thanks must go to our dedicated staff who work tirelessly throughout the year, not just in June, to make the appeal a success. We also recognise the generosity of time and resources from individuals within our communities who contribute to the appeal – without these people Give Me 5 for Kids would not be the success it is.”
