The 2015 Adelaide Film Festival launches new ‘The Film You Wrote’ campaign via NATION

AFF Brochure (1).jpgCase Study: Having supported its last two campaigns, NATION was once again engaged by the Adelaide Film Festival for its 2015 event.

As part of the overall campaign, this season they put the spotlight back on the audience with The Film You Wrote, a never-before-seen ‘choose your own adventure’ experiment in filmmaking.

This interactive and social campaign was developed to increase the online audience in the lead up to the festival launch, and to get people in Adelaide talking about film.

Each day prior to the festival, a new question about the story was released with multiple-choices to vote on. Using social media and real world typewriter installations, the public was asked to vote and develop the plot.

Over two weeks and 10 questions, the public wrote a script. Then, in the two weeks before the start of the Festival, NATION brought story to life, creating a short film with the help of Festival collaborator, Tilda Cobham-Hervey.

The result was potentially the weirdest film of all time – a quirky, crazy story that managed to hold its own when screened as part of the world premiere compilation of short films, “Made in SA”.

Says Amanda Duthie, director/CEO, Adelaide Film Festival: “The spirit of inventiveness that runs through the Adelaide Film Festival was in full sync in ‘The Film You Wrote’ campaign. The world premiere was one of many events sold out through the Festival.

Says Jane Keen, creative director, NATION: “The Adelaide Film Festival celebrates the creativity of our state and shines a light on unique films as well as up and coming film makers. It was clear to us that we had an opportunity to do something truly innovative with ‘The Film You Wrote’, to not just engage our audience but put them in the director’s seat.”
