Those who spend time south of the border will be familiar with The Refinery Melbourne, and its collaboration with The Butchery on many memorable pieces of work.

The Refinery has also announced Drew Downes as partner and lead VFX artist in Sydney. Downes started his career in Australia with such companies as Mesh 22 and Post Modern. For the last 10 years he’s been honing his skills OS with the likes of MPC both in London and New York, working on iconic spots such as Cadbury’s “Gorilla” and Sony “Pay Doh”, and as creative director at MassMarket, Downes earned an Emmy Award for his work on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football”. Since returning to Australia, he’s continued his career with highly regarded companies Alt VFX and Fin. The Refinery welcomes Downes’ smiling face, relaxed vibe and creative talent.

Sydney post producer Amelia Babos heads up the new studio base for this diverse stable of both local and interstate talent, offering offline editorial, resolve and flame suites, 3 o’clock cakes and parking on site, located just off the city end of Oxford Street.
