Buck opens up Down Under

Buck_Syd_Portrait (1).jpgThe LA and NYC based design driven production company Buck, has officially opened the doors to its third studio in its newly created space in Surry Hills, Sydney.

Over its 12 year history, Buck has built a reputation for bringing sensibility, inspiration, humour and enjoyment to its storytelling.

The Sydney creative team will be lead by creative director Gareth O’Brien, a Buck veteran of 9 years, with the focus of bringing the craft and creativity that Buck is synonymous with.

Says O’Brien: “We’re a bunch of artists who simply love what we do. I think this comes through in the level of detail that we put into our craft. We all take our job pretty seriously but not ourselves. I’m excited to work again in this market, I think the humour down under suits us particularly well.”

The playfulness that characterizes Australian and NZ advertising, and the talented people that fill this market, certainly influenced Buck’s decision to set up shop in Sydney.

Alongside executive producer Erica Ford, O’Brien has hand-picked some special local hires in talented art director, Lucas Brooking (ex-Giant Ant) and 2015 AWARD School top student Josh Edwards.

Together they form the core of an exciting creative team that taps into the talent, knowledge and experience in Buck’s US studios.

Says Ford: “There is something very inspiring about being part of a working environment that values collaboration and creativity over all else.”

Buck kicks off with an exciting partnership with iconic Aussie brand The Woolmark Company. The brand short-film for the TWC is due for completion in 2016 – watch this space.
