Electric Dreams creative director Cornel Wilczek wins AACTA for Best Original Music Score on TV

GettyImages-499243328 (1).jpgElectric Dreams creative director Cornel Wilczek has won the AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) Award for Best Original Music Score in Television for his work on the supernatural drama Glitch.

Wilczek was awarded at the AACTA’s Sydney ceremony on Monday night for his score work on episode 4 of the six-part series, which screened on the ABC in July and August this year to great acclaim.

Says Wilczek: “I’m very honoured to receive my first AACTA AWARD and truly happy it’s for something that I totally believe in. t was an uncompromised score and the project was a true, healthy, creative collaboration.”

A composer for film and TV as well as a producer/engineer, multi-instrumentalist and sound artist, Wilczek was also nominated for an AACTA award in 2014, for his work on the teenage mystery drama Nowhere Boys, and took out Best Original Score earlier this year for his work on “These Final Hours” at the French Festival international du film fantastique de Gérardmer.

Wilzcek is one of Australia’s most in-demand composers for the advertising industry. In the past decade, he has scored over 150 TV commercials in Australia and internationally, and his work has been recognised with multiple awards.

Since 2009, Electric Dreams has produced everything from large ensemble string recordings to electronic scores. The studio facilitates creative development, broadcast composition and mixing, surround for TV and film, as well as album production.

As Electric Dreams’ creative director, Wilzcek has overseen the studio’s recent work on campaigns for Ford, Bupa, Tiger Air, Mercedes, Bank of Melbourne, Australia Post and VB, among many others.
