AP3.jpgMelbourne’s advertising community came together again last night for the MADC After Party. It’s the awards show without the awards. Once again the Cellar Bar at the Newmarket Hotel was the venue, but this time the evening held a big surprise.

There was an award last night, but just one. Simon Bagnasco and his team at DDB were the inaugural winners of the MADC Star. It’s awarded for the single best creative idea for the year and DDB’s Cussons Radiant Return came out on top.

AP1.jpgThanks to the generous contribution of sole sponsor Mr Smith, the prize was a $10,000 trip for two with entry tickets to SXSW in Texas next year. A delighted Bagnasco said he was blown away by the award.

Says Bagnasco: “Everyone at DDB Melbourne is incredibly excited to have taken home a win last night – especially considering AP2.jpgthe high standard of work we were up against. On a personal note, it’s great to see MADC back at its best. Last night was a reminder of what an excellent bunch of people we have working in our industry. A special thank you to Ben, Jim, the MADC committee and the guys and girls at Mr. Smith for making it happen.”

The MADC Star was judged by leading AP4.jpgcreatives outside the state, Scott Nowell from the Monkeys – who was in town for the night, Julian Watt – Host, Pat Lennox -Marketforce and Mark Harricks VCCP. The other finalists were Bonds ‘The Boys’ from Clemenger BBDO, TAC ‘Parental Strings’ from Clemenger BBDO, Adidas ‘Sacred Ground’ from WhybinTBWA and ANZ ‘Equal Future’ also from WhybinTBWA.
