Yesterday SAG-AFTRA tried to send a strong signal to ad industry leaders and the entire entertainment community with its members and supporters gathering at Droga5’s New York headquarters on Wall Street to deliver a petition signed by 8,000 members which calls on Droga5 to stop “undermining the industry standards that ensure commercial performers can earn a middle-class living”.
Despite repeated requests, Droga5 representatives refused to accept the petition or discuss the union’s concerns and SAG-AFTRA members and supporters were greeted with the New York Police Department.

As advertising becomes more and more the preserve of the one percenters and those toadying up to the one percenters, this kind of fascism will be the norm. Let’s be clear, these are huge multinational companies illegally using non-union actors and underpaying them so they can make even more profit. Rotten behaviour from D5 and across the industry generally.
