Awarded Whybin\TBWA Melbourne creative director Andy Lish departs for new opportunites
After a year in the role, multi-awarded Whybin\TBWA, Melbourne creative director Andy Lish has departed the agency to explore new opportunities.
Lish told CB: “Finishing up full time at Whybins was an amicable thing. They’re a good crowd and I am still doing project work for them. It’s just that going back to project work lets me travel and work with different people and on many and varied projects. All the things I love. It’s a challenge I relish, so to speak. lol.”
During his two year stint at Whybin’s, a creative highlight for Lish was conceiving the internationally awarded ANZ ‘GayTM’ campaign.
Before Whybin\TBWA, Lish was creative director at TBWA Tanzania, where he spent a year. Over the last three decades he has had full-time and freelance stints at various agencies in the Asia-Pacific region, creating award-winning work for The Ball Partnership, Mojo, DDB and Saatchi & Saatchi.

All the best Mr Lish. You’re a legend.
Good luck Lishy, can’t wait to see your next big endeavor!
How did he pull this one off? (I thought no-one actually got to leave Hotel California…?) Certainly the catch of the year. His left-field, audacious brilliance – which he brings to every job he ever does – was unequivocally vindicated last year when he cleaned up with the work he did for ANZ. Go Lishy!
Admired for the brilliance of his work.
I remember making a campaign for L&P soft drinks in 1983 ? LEMON & PAEROA – WORLD FAMOUS (IN NZ) for Andy and James Mock at Saatchi Ak. We had a great time in the country town of Paeroa where the locals either loved us for putting the place back on the map or hated us for depicting the town in what they mistakenly perceived as a piss take. The campaign won a gold AXIS and the line is still used today – 30 years later. During my last stint directing TVCs in about 2002 I was visiting an agency who had just made a new L&P campaign and when the creatives discovered I had directed the original spots, they all came out to meet me and said they had based their new work on the look of the old campaign (which was shot by legendary NZ DOP Allun Bollinger). I was briefly surrounded by creatives who were small children when the ads were made congratulating our efforts- a rare warm and fuzzy moment on the dark side. Bout time was did another job eh Andy.? While we can still walk.
Actually, the talented Fane is suffering from a bit of brain freeze. L&P – World Famous in New Zealand was 1993. Yes it won Axis and The big Gold at Award in OZ. And yes, we can still walk and run even. I ‘aint that old! Go you good things, go. x
Yes indeed Dr Lish has given me some of my best work over the last 43 years and we were on the verge of doing another job when obviously his NZ work visa got pulled or something and he was whisked back to the land of Oz, which was a shame. So all the best in the future Lishy – look forward to seeing where you pop up. SMB
Leave it out, knock it on the ‘ead.
You’re a bloody living legend Rod Stewart, you’ll undoubtedly kick ass where ever you turn up fella. Poa sana.
