Kroon, who joined Fairfax a year ago as director of commercial development and partnerships, continues to report to Australian publishing media commercial and marketing services director Tom Armstrong.

Kroon has led Fairfax’s trading strategy with media agencies and key clients and has also delivered several new commercial partnerships, including Facebook Instant Articles.

Says Armstrong: “Kristiaan is a valuable member of our commercial team and has led several key initiatives. Bringing a wealth of experience from his UK publishing background, Kristiaan steps into this new role leading our agency sales strategy as well as driving key commercial partnerships.”

Kroon has more than 15 years’ experience in the media industry. Prior to joining Fairfax, he was trading director at the UK’s largest newspaper publisher – Trinity Mirror, where he was responsible for a portfolio including the Daily Mirror – with a weekly reach of 28 million people – as well as leading trade negotiations across key agency groups and top advertisers.

Says Kroon: “My first year at Fairfax has been fantastic. The brands and people make Fairfax an amazing place to work and I am very fortunate to be part of such a brilliant team. We are focused on delivering the best solutions to our customers, through a clear strategy, building on the strong start we have had to 2016.”
