KFC is best eaten with your hands in latest ‘Finger Lickin’ Good Cutlery’ work via Ogilvy
KFC has launched its new ‘The Finger Lickin’ Good Cutlery’ campaign via Ogilvy & Mather Sydney based on the simple insight that KFC is best eaten with your hands.
From this insight came the idea that when you eat KFC, your hands are your cutlery.
When crafting the execution, three diverse people were chosen to show that KFC is the food that lets you relax and be yourself, no matter who you are or where you’re from.
Each set of hands channels a different type of cutlery, which gives them their own distinct personality.
The hands with white sleeves reference bone-handle cutlery. The pale female hands reference designer cutlery with gold embellishments. The tattooed hands reference antique, engraved cutlery.

I like this.
I really like the second execution.
‘relax and be yourself, no matter who you are or where you’re from’: And then go on to choosing only white people to be the ‘cutlery’?
The first thing I thought when I saw the top one was ‘Absolutely! Those pale, female hands represent designer cutlery with gold embellishments’, and then I read the article and that’s what it said! Nice work guys.
cannes here we come.
this is cool and i really like it. but i really hope it’s appearing somewhere other than rouse hill times.
Nice work guys and gals!
Hope the copywriter was paid well for this…
Nailed it.
Kept For Cannes
Brilliant idea but agree with Handsdown. Would adding a pair of chopsticks hurt? Use all white people if you want but you’re kidding yourself if you think you can pass that off as “diverse” in 2016…
You’re new here, right?
Only the first one is white white
the second and third could be hundreds of ethnicities
calm down ya bunch of spazzes
ps, a copywriter doesn’t have to actually write copy
@colour anything placed next to that terribly retouched ‘white-white’ hand would look like different races, they are all white!
No suits or clients credited?
It’s amazing what people will call an “insight” these days.

Cute mock up.
Took you what, 5 hours?
Ran in MC’s boardroom did it.?
The suits on KFC don’t really do enough to get a mention.
Done. Although the original didn’t have tattoos to reference antique, engraved cutlery.

I liked it until i saw the M&C Pizza Hut original….it’s even better executed, but i guess i shouldn’t be surprised by that.
Well spotted. Goodbye AWARD award.
Have people no shame????
Like it. Well done.
Yeah, but did they make it a campaign?
“@colour anything placed next to that terribly retouched ‘white-white’ hand would look like different races”
soooo, they look like different races then? good, glad thats settled!
To add further insult, Pizza Hut and KFC are even the same client.
Saw it this morning – “Nice – see you at Cannes”.
Saw the Pizza Hut one this afternoon – “Bugger – see you at the pub”.
Such is life in the time-compressed world of modern advertising!!
Shameful rip-off.
Strike one. If not two…
Never lick a hairy knife.
Like it. Well done.
Seriously guys a simple google search would have revealed it’s been done.
Haha, not great form
Classic Ogilvy. The best piece of print you’ve done in years and it’s actually a Pizza Hut ad that you photocopied.
i was gonna say pretty sure M&C / Ben Welsh / Jason did that years ago.
Maybe Ogilvy would have seen the Pizza Hut one if it actually ran somewhere other than in the very obvious, office boardroom.
I’ve got some Coca Cola ads from the 90s lying around if you guys want them too.
Sure these these half-pages will amaze the readers of Northern districts times
Really bit that Pizza Hut ad. Hope it wasn’t intentional.
