OZ scores 23 finalists in One Show’s Film, Cross-Platform, Direct and Print & Outdoor categories

Samsung Gear VR - Leo Burnett 4-thumb-400x225-176850.jpgThe One Club has today announced the Film, Cross-Platform, Direct and Print & Outdoor finalists for the 43rd Annual One Show Awards, the most prestigious worldwide competition celebrating the year’s best in all forms of advertising, design and marketing communications.  There are finalists from 40 countries.

Australia has scored 11 finalists in Film, five in Cross-Platform, six in Direct and one in Print & Outdoor.

Leo Burnett Sydney leads the agency pack with a total of five finalists. Clemenger BBDO Sydney, Leo Burnett Melbourne , Clemenger BBDO Melbourne have all been shortlisted three times, Marketforce Perth has been shortlisted twice and McCann Melbourne, M&C Saatchi Sydney, GPY&R Brisbane + Melbourne, BMF Sydney, J. Walter Thompson Sydney, Droga5 Sydney and Finch have all got one finalist each.

One Show judges shared some of their observations about the work they saw in their respective disciplines this year.

Says Malcolm Poynton (Direct), global CCO, Cheil Worldwide/London: “Emoji keyboards are everywhere.”

Says Icaro Doria (Cross-Platform), CCO, DDB/New York: “There’s a lot of attempts to do interesting things with VR.”

Says Ben Tollett (Film), ECD, adam&eveDDB/London: The old distinctions between online film and offline are becoming more blurred.”

Says Eugene Cheong (Print & Outdoor), CCO, Ogilvy & Mather/Asia Pacific/Singapore: “Print is now so closely linked with the Internet.”
