RSPCA NSW warns Aussies about leaving dogs in hot cars in new video via Saatchis Sydney
RSPCA NSW has released an online video today highlighting the dangers of leaving dogs in cars created by Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney.
The short video titled ‘Nodding Dog’ highlights the simple but brutal fact that it can only take a short six minutes for a dog to die in a hot car.
Says Paige Gibbs, executive manager marketing, fundraising and communication, RSPCA NSW: “Leaving dogs in cars is an ongoing issue. Every year, the lives of thousands of dogs are at risk. Sadly, many dog owners are unaware that a quick coffee run or visit to the supermarket is putting their four-legged friends’ lives at risk.”
Says Mike Spirkovski, executive creative director, Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney: “As an agency of dog lovers, our hearts were in this from the beginning. The brutal fact that it only takes six minutes for a dog to die from the heat inside a car is powerful. Sadly, many people are unaware of the risks so hopefully this simple spot will make a difference.”
RSPCA NSW and Saatchi & Saatchi partnered with Finch on the production, directed by Jae Morrison and with sound by Rumble Studios.
The video will run on Facebook and YouTube.

I’m nodding.
Ah, it’s that time of the year again. Cannes deadline looming. Lots of worthy work to be seen between now and April 30.
Just in time for summer
Nice work S&S. Simple.
Great work Robin & Guy!
Hasn’t Matt Moran already BBQ’d a dog or small child in a car this year? Consider me aware I shouldn’t leave live things in my car. Also can’t help but notice the timing is terrible for summer but excellent for award season.
Oooooh no no no no no.
Neither original or good.
Award school idea at best, and that’s insulting to the students.
“Heat related injuries”
?????????????????
Aside from that, good.
Is it just me but I feel nothing for that inanimate object that also has no feelings?
I’m more interested in where the driver went. Thai massage? Quick bet on Race 5?
Great work, nicely shot.
Decent timing in the middle of a heatwave. Who cares if award season is looming, the message remains the same.
Simple, powerful, horrible, memorable.
I liked it. The ‘normals’ will too.
@ no Cannes do
@Jay
I’m sure the RSPCA would be happy to accept your incredible ideas anytime.
Please just send them directly to RSPCA and contact Paige or Marianne
But only send the brilliant ones.
Lovely, lads.
Talk it up Fido, it doesn’t alter the fact that it’s unremarkable.
As to why a piece of content requires an army to produce it.
A social/content agency would have this out the door in a day, with a team of 3 people. I don’t get it…. Why do you need 20 people to produce this. What on earth is everyone doing?
