SOUND + VISION (1).jpgOn Sunday January 31, Samsung Electronics Australia held an exciting, large scale event, Sound + Vision, in the iconic Sydney Opera House’s Concert Hall — with over 1,200 music and art lovers in attendance.

Presented (and produced) with millennial masters VICE, Sound + Vision saw four emerging musical talents take the stage (Empress Of, Banoffee, Oscar Key Sung, Charles Murdoch) to collaborate with three visual artists (Nonotak, Tin&Ed, Prue Stent). Each pairing performed an immersive and unique set, powered by a suite of technology that fused the music and artwork via motion sensors, midi triggers and audio manipulation and controlled via the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. New media artist Joe Crossley headed the development team in this.

To deepen the experience, attendees were invited to use Samsung tablets in the Opera House foyers to create their own music; which they could hear through headphones and see via a visual response on screens, made to look like the different outputs from the show happening inside the hall. Samsung Wireless 360˚ Audio Speakers and several 75 inch High Definition Screens let the rest of the viewers in surrounding areas experience the installation.

In addition to the interactive activation, Samsung Gear VR headsets placed the attendees within a fully immersive 360˚ music experience featuring Flight Facilities.

The first event in a series under the Sound + Vision banner, Samsung will continue to innovate and collaborate in the art and music sphere through its principal partnership with Sydney Opera House.

A behind-the-scenes look at the art, music and technology — with thoughts from the talent who took part in the night — will be live on VICE’s The Creators Project soon.
