Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 6.31.33 am.jpgTo celebrate the 10th birthday of Twitter – one of the world’s most influential social media platforms – global social media agency We Are Social has selected 100 of the biggest stories from the past 10 years (represented by 100 tweets), displayed on an interactive digital microsite.

By visiting happybirdday.wearesocial.com, users can view key moments that have impacted society since Twitter’s creation and see how they were communicated on the platform. People can share and discuss the rediscovered content using the hashtag #HappyBirdDay.

Moments featured on the site range from #BringBackOurGirls and Peace for Paris, to ‘God’s’ first tweet and Miley Cyrus’s ‘free the nipple’ post, demonstrating the diversity and scale of Twitter’s impact globally. The site also features some of We Are Social’s history, with the first tweets from its co-founders and the agency itself.

The site will remain available for the rest of 2016 and We Are Social will update it with some of the stories making the biggest impact this year.

Says Suzie Shaw, managing director, We Are Social: “Twitter has enabled everyone with access to the internet to break a story to the rest of the world. I love Twitter and I’m delighted to be celebrating its birthday with what we think are 100 of the best Twitter stories of the past decade. And we’re looking forward to seeing what the next 10 years has in store, for both Twitter and the wider social media landscape.”
