727_03_PaperPlane (1).jpgThe Pool Collective is seeking applicants for the 2016 Pool Grant, an initiative that provides $10,000 to an emerging artist to complete a photographic series for exhibition and take a significant step forward in his or her career. Submissions close Midnight 21 April.

Founded in 2009, the Pool Grant aims to help artists bring new concepts to life. The recipient of the Pool Grant will have one year to complete their project, as well as receive the mentorship of eminent photographers in The Pool Collective family. At the end of the year, the Pool Grant recipient will have a solo exhibition to showcase their completed work during Head On Photo Festival.

Says Cameron Gray, managing director of The Pool Collective: “The Pool Grant is a very important part of who we are as The Pool Collective. We all started out as emerging artists looking for opportunities that could take us to the next level, so we understand how valuable something like this is and are excited to be able to provide that. It could change someone’s career.”

HOW TO ENTER: The Pool Collective is looking to be inspired by applicants’ ideas and photographic skills. The submission process is simple. Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand residents, age 18+, and have less than 3 years experience in commercial photography.

Applicants will need to submit a brief artist statement and proposal as well as examples of their photography via The Pool Collective website.
