Young blood pumping as Queensland sells out first event ‘The Hand You Need’ held last Thurs

Screen Shot 2016-03-21 at 7.07.29 am.jpgThursday night (17 March) marked the first event of the year for Youngbloods QLD; the arm of the Communications Council dedicated to supporting young people in advertising, media, marketing and communications.

The Hand You Need networking event and panel discussion kicked off the year’s initiatives, with a record attendance. Tickets sold out the day prior to the event, with extra tickets being released and snatched up on the day.

“We are thrilled with the success of The Hand You Need and plan to continue the momentum throughout the year.”

Panelists included:

●Russ Vine – Managing Director at Ogilvy Brisbane

●Mike Kennedy – Senior Copywriter at Rumble Creative & Media

●Ben Lees – Art Director at Publicis Mojo

●Ruth Limkin – Director and Consultant

●Eve McCormack – Digital Director at Ikon Communications

●Kirsten Read – Senior Brand Manager at Tatts Lotteries

The panel showcased talent from all corners of the industry, with representation of creative, media, marketing, account management and consulting. The lively group was addressed by MC, Roshni Vastrad, who graduated from QUT last year.    

Panelists engaged in friendly debate over contested topics and offered key pieces of advice to the captive audience.

Says Read: “If you take anything from tonight, it is that you shouldn’t be using Times New Roman.”

Planning is underway for the committee’s next event, to be held in the coming months.
