With over 6,000 entries received from around the world, the latest accolade is the agency’s most significant competitive honor for creative excellence, adding to the string of awards already received for their work creating the City of Sydney’s events website that include Davey and Create Awards for Best Events Website. The platform is also currently a finalist in two categories for the prestigious 25th annual AIMIA awards to be awarded in June 2016.

The project brief challenged Frank’s team of creative technologists to create a home for the vibrant events of Sydney, whilst providing a beautiful and unique digital user experience. The clever website enables content to be syndicated across diverse digital touch points, allowing end-users an easy way to navigate the vast array of events across the city.

The online events platform was created specifically for Sydneysiders and tourists alike, ensuring users could gain access to quick and up to date information. One of the core features of the new app is the public event discovery and submissions feature, where user generated data is received and moderated by city staff to ensure strict guidelines are met while displaying the best events from across the city. This feature ensures quality control is maintained and allows the public to take part in quality content generation.

Says Matt Barbelli, founder and creative director, Frank Digital: “We are truly honoured to win 2 excellence awards that have been judged and overseen amongst such a high calibre of competition across the globe. We’ve made a deliberate commitment to putting the user ‘front-of-mind’ and I’m thrilled this has been recognised in our “What’s On Sydney” project.”

Says Linda Day, executive director, Academy Interactive and Visual Arts: “On behalf of the entire Academy, we want to congratulate this year’s Communicator Award Entrants and Winners for their passion and dedication.  We are honoured to be given the opportunity to recognize such outstanding work.”

The Communicator Awards are an annual competition honoring the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations and identity work for print, video, interactive and audio.
