Marketforce_ChickenTreat_Betty.jpgOver 800 people from the Western Australian Advertising and Media industry were at Crown Perth’s new Grand Ballroom last night for the 2016 Oasis Ball and Campaign Brief Perth Awards.

It was a big night for Marketforce, which won Agency of the Year and six of the nine creative awards presented. It was also a big night for creative team Neil Martin and Guy Howlett, who created or co-created all of them.

University of WA picked up the prestigious Advertiser of the Year award for their transformed approach to marketing exemplified by the ‘Pursue Impossible’ television commercial by The Brand Agency.

The Campaign Brief Advertising Person of the Year was awarded to The Brand Agency’s Steve Harris, who had been a 5-time finalist for the award before this year. In 2015, Harris became CEO of The Brand Agency group, WA’s most successful agency ever with well established offices in Melbourne and Auckland, and a major part of the STW Group.

CBWA_2016_AdPerson.jpgOther award-winners last night were:

Helen Filov Media Agency of the Year – Initiative.

Initiative very narrowly edged out Carat in the award’s new structure of being voted for by the senior sales directors of Perth’s media.

Media Organisation of the Year – Southern Cross Austereo.

It was three-in-a-row for SCA after another dominant performance in our poll of Perth’s media planners and buyers.

Challenger Agency of the Year – Block. The most difficult decision of the awards for us with some outstanding work and innovation being demonstrated by the entrants but Block just edged the others to take the title this time.

Chris Andrawes_2016_BLOG.jpgSupernova of the Year – Chris Andrawes, Longtail.

The Supernova of the Year Award recognises outstanding young people who have the potential to be the future leaders of our industry. In 2015, Longtail art director Chris Andrawes became one of the most prolific junior figures in Perth, both with his agency and as a member of industry association Youngbloods.
