After 15 years at KWP! Adelaide creative director James Rickard departs for a new adventure
Campaign Brief can reveal that long-time KWP! Adelaide creative director James Rickard, who has been at the agency for 15 years, has departed for a new adventure, yet to be revealed.
Rickard told CB he and the agency had amicably and mutually agreed to part company: “The industry has changed dramatically in recent years and KWP like many great agencies, sees the need to adapt to and adopt those changes. I don’t agree.
“But rather than being a rather large speed hump for the agency to negotiate as it continues to strive for a successful and sustainable future, we decided it was better for me to step aside.”
Rickard joined KWP! in July 2001 after a 12 year stint as creative director of Leo Burnett, Adelaide. During his career to date he has won numerous advertising awards including Cannes Corporate TV & Media Awards, London International, New York Festivals, Midas, Clio, Mobius, Caxtons, AWARD, AADC and AFA.

A great man. A great mind. Will be missed.
Mate, best of luck with everything and warmest regards.
That is very elegantly put. Too many CDs try and stay with the ship to personally oversee its sinking. The mark of a great CD is knowing when to step aside or pass the baton.
I agree with the above. A great experience working with you James.
Always a pleasure working with you James. Exciting times ahead.
James is one of the nicest guys in adland. It must have been a particularly bitter separation for him to protest his sacking so unequivocally.
The agency can finally grow
One of the truly decent blokes. And a great thinker.
Sound like they want to do more ‘Content’ instead of great advertising.
Those days are long, long gone, my friend…..
You lose clients, you lose people
