Inside the Jury Room

It was a bit sad to hear radio entries were down 18% this year. But as I’m listening to 500 of them over two days of shortlisting, I’m also a bit grateful.

I guess the downturn is partly because of all the new lion categories, I suppose award budgets are simply getting stretched.

Tip for the day: If there’s anything you really want the judges to know (i.e. critical cultural context, or what we should view in the case study video, put it in the first sentence of the ‘Script in English’ section. We see that bit first and could miss it if it’s buried in long explanations in the other sections.

Outside the Jury Room

It’s pretty quiet in Outside1.jpgCannes right now, but I did meet a few interesting characters along La Croisette.
